Cinnamon Rolls
Soft, pillowy rolls made from an egg-enriched dough, swirled with cinnamon sugar and topped with cream cheese icing spread on while warm - the egg in the dough is what gives real cinnamon rolls their tender, soft crumb instead of a bready one.

Ingredients
- •3 1/2 cups flour
- •1/4 cup sugar
- •2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- •1 cup warm milk
- •1 egg
- •1/3 cup melted butter, plus more for spreading
- •1/2 cup brown sugar
- •2 tbsp cinnamon
- •4 oz cream cheese, softened
- •1/4 cup butter, softened
- •1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- •1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Steps
- 1.Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, warm milk, egg, and melted butter into a soft dough; knead until smooth - the egg is what makes the dough tender instead of bready.
- 2.Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.
- 3.Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- 4.Roll up tightly, slice into rolls, and place in a baking dish to rise for another 30 minutes.
- 5.Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
- 6.Beat the cream cheese, softened butter, and vanilla together until smooth, then beat in the powdered sugar, and spread over the rolls while they're still warm so the icing melts slightly into them.
