Split Pea Soup

- •1 ham hock or diced ham
- •1 onion, diced
- •2 carrots, diced
- •2 celery stalks, diced
- •2 cloves garlic, minced
- •1 bay leaf
- •8 cups chicken broth
- •Pepper to taste
Steps
- 1.Combine the split peas, ham, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaf, and chicken broth in a large pot.
- 2.Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
- 3.Remove the ham hock and bay leaf, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
